Optimist Park Virtual Community Meeting on Nov. 18

Updated: Aug 31, 2022

You've been patiently waiting to give your input on our NEW skatepark at Optimist Park and we are excited to listen! Join us for a virtual community meeting Wednesday, Nov. 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. so we can discuss the design of the skatepark and make it THE BEST IT CAN BE!!

The City of Port Huron was given a unique opportunity to raise funds for a matching grant of up to $250,000. The matching challenge ended on December 31, 2019, when the City of Port Huron along with Alpine Cycles' help was able to raise every bit of those funds and more. The Tony Hawk Foundation matched what the City raised to design and construct a concrete skatepark that will replace the one at Optimist Park.

Before breaking ground, the Port Huron Recreation Department is organizing a virtual community meeting to get residents' input on what features they would like to see incorporated in the design of the park.

The meeting will be held virtually on Wednesday, Nov. 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Attendees can join via Go To Meeting at http://bit.ly/OptimistSkateparkMeeting1

For those who are unable to attend the meeting on Nov. 18, there is also the option of sending their feedback via a survey at https://bit.ly/sk8survey. Surveys must be completed by Sunday, Nov. 22.

With an overall budget of $750,000, The City of Port Huron expects the new skatepark to accommodate skateboards, bikes, and inline skates in an 8,000 to 12,000 sqft area.
