
American Red Cross Lifeguard Training
Training at St. Clair High School Pool:
When: May 4-8, 3-9 p.m. and May 9, 9-1 p.m.
Where: St. Clair High School, 2200 Clinton Ave.
Training at Sanborn Pool:
When: June 1-5, 3-9 p.m. and June 6, 9-1 p.m.
Where: Sanborn Pool, 1919 Sanborn St.
Nonresident or surrounding townships: $600
City of Port Huron resident: $300
Learn how to effectively prevent and respond to water emergencies with American Red Cross lifeguard training. This course is designed to equip you with skills and knowledge to prepare for a variety of scenarios in and around the water. You will learn how quick response times and effective preparation are vital to being a lifeguard while also understanding the crucial elements in helping to prevent drownings and injuries.
The course includes a lifeguard manual, CPR mask, instruction, and practical and written exams.
Must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class. Must pass a precourse swimming skills test on the first day of class before continuing lifeguard training.
Those planning to work for the Port Huron Parks and Recreation Department are exempt from the course payment if they sign a contract to work the 2026 summer season at our city owned pools, Court St. Pool and/or Sanborn Pool.
