Nothing says THANK YOU better than ice cream!

We are thrilled that one of our favorite downtown stores, A Little Something, has opened up a concession stand in Pine Grove Park! We all know that their downtown shop serves delicious ice cream, and the new concession stand is no different. The Port Huron Recreation Department has decided to team up with A Little Something In The Park, Power 88.3, and 90.7 Hope FM to show our appreciation to those in our community with free and discounted ice cream--is there any better way to say thank you?

August is Appreciation Month here at the Port Huron Recreation Department, and this August, we are showing our appreciation to healthcare workers, senior citizens, and kids who are heading back to school. Even if it is just with something small, we want to do whatever we can to show just how much these groups of people in our community mean to us. On August 12, we celebrated Healthcare Workers Appreciation Day, a day where all healthcare workers who showed their work ID received 50% off any ice cream cone--it's the least we could do for our healthcare heroes who were on the frontlines during COVID-19!

On August 19, we are celebrating Senior Citizens Appreciation Day, where the first 150 seniors (age 55 and older) will receive a free single scoop ice cream at A Little Something In The Park. Our seniors made Port Huron what it is today, and they certainly brighten our days whenever we get to spend even a few moments hearing their stories. Be sure to spread the word to your favorite senior so that they don't miss out on a sweet treat!

Last but not least, on August 26, we will be having a Back-To-School Ice Cream Special, where children ages 18 and under are eligible for a discounted single scoop ice cream cone for only $2! The many unknowns about returning to school have been stressful for our kids, and we hope to take some of that stress away (even for just a moment) with some discounted ice cream!

If you are a healthcare worker, senior citizen, or a child going back to school, we hope you know that your local Recreation Department sees you and appreciates you, not just during Appreciation Month, but always. Thank you for all that you do--now, go get some ice cream!
