Kayak the Black River with new, self-serve kayak rental

Four self-serve kayak rentals are now available in downtown Port Huron near the 7th St. kayak launch!

The kayaks are available to rent with the Northville, Michigan-based mobile app Rent.Fun. Rentals will be available for 5 years thanks to a partnership with the Port Huron Downtown Developmental Authority (DDA).

Rentals are made via the Rent.Fun mobile app, available through both Google Play and the Apple App Store, or can be found with the QR Code located on the kiosk. Equipment, including the kayak, paddle and life vest, is available with each unit.

Users can conveniently enter the Black River using the 7th St. Kayak Launch. For inexperienced kayakers, we recommend paddling inland, not towards the St. Clair River.

“The Black River is one of the most notable and celebrated amenities in Downtown Port Huron. Now, residents and visitors can enjoy our beautiful downtown from the water without having to own their own kayak or boat,” said DDA Director Natacha Hayden.

Rentals are available for $25 for the first two hours. Rentals after two hours are $5 per 30 additional minutes. Memberships are also available to purchase.

“This is also a great opportunity for downtown’s loft residents who may not have space for a

kayak, yet want to enjoy downtown’s natural assets,” said Hayden.

The kayak rental is located near the Bowl-O-Drome on Quay St. near the 7th St. Bridge. For more info, please visit
